A medium for determining the count of so-called infective microorganisms in butter and other dairy products.


  • Oyster white, transparent appearance
  • pH of 7,5 ±0,2


This culture medium does not contain any fermentable carbohydrates and has relatively little nutrient value so that these microorganisms can be cultivated selectively.


The instructions given in the International Standard of the FIL-IDF should be followed so that the results can be compared at an international level. Incubation: 48 hours at 35 °C, followed by 48 hours at 20 °C. Do not count pin-point colonies.


Typical formulation: Gelatin peptone (7,5 g/L); Tryptone (7,5 g/L); Sodium chloride (5,0 g/L) and Agar (15 g/L).
